How to use the PDF Page Size Fixer tool

  1. Choose your PDF

Open one PDF up to 100 MB and 250 pages. The tool measures each visible page and prepares supported saved form appearances.

  2. Set the output paper

Choose a standard paper size or custom dimensions in millimetres or inches. Select one orientation for every page or match each source page.

  3. Review page placement

Move between original-size and resized previews. Check margins, scale and the page-size overview. Blue margin guides are not printed.

  4. Save the print copy

Download the resized PDF and, optionally, a JSON page-size report. The source file remains unchanged.

Why use UploadWell’s PDF Page Size Fixer?

One paper format
Standardize scans, reports and appendices to A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5, Tabloid or a custom sheet.
Proportional fitting
Pages are centred and scaled proportionally inside the chosen margins. Allow enlargement when smaller source pages should fill more space.
Sharp page artwork
Existing page text and vector graphics are embedded without converting the whole page into a bitmap.
Private inspection and export
Measure pages, preview the layout and generate the new PDF locally. No PDF contents are uploaded.

Fix a PDF assembled from different paper sizes

A document combined from several sources can contain a Letter report, an A4 appendix, a wide table and smaller scanned pages. The differences can make printing inconsistent. This tool gives every page the chosen paper format while retaining the original order.

All portrait and All landscape produce identical width and height for every output page. Match each source page uses portrait or landscape sheets according to the visible source shape. That option keeps one paper type but allows its orientation to vary. The overview shows the dimensions and scale of every page before export.

Measurements use the visible intersection of the source crop box and media box, with quarter-turn rotation applied. Content already outside the original visible area stays excluded. The fixer does not recover hidden artwork or expand a source crop box.

Fit page content without stretching

The page artwork fits inside the selected minimum margins, keeping its original proportions. If the source and target have different shapes, additional white space appears on two sides. This avoids stretching wide tables or cutting away parts of a scanned page.

Allow enlargement is off by default: smaller pages keep their original physical size and are centred. Turn it on to scale them up to the available area. Text and vector graphics can remain sharp when enlarged, but a scanned image does not gain detail from a larger placement.

A minimum margin is a fitting boundary, not a command to remove margins already present in the source. Existing white page borders remain part of the artwork. Custom sheet dimensions range from 10 to 2,000 mm per side, and minimum margins from 0 to 50 mm, provided they leave usable space.

What the resized print copy contains

The output contains the visible page artwork, including existing page text, images and vector graphics. Text already present in the page content can remain selectable. Scanned text stays an image; this tool does not run OCR or turn scans into editable text.

Supported form fields are flattened using their saved appearance before fitting. They are no longer editable in the result. A form with no usable saved appearance is rejected instead of silently losing its values. Dynamic XFA forms, PDF signature fields, certification settings and non-standard PDF user units are not supported.

Links, comments, bookmarks, attachments and other interactive features are not carried into the new print copy. The tool shows detected links and non-widget annotations. Its preview uses the same prepared artwork as the output. If you need visible comments included, flatten them in the original application before choosing that separate print copy here.

This is a sizing tool, not a PDF/A, accessibility, colour-management or print-provider compliance validator. Review the result in your usual reader before sharing or printing it. Use Merge PDF to combine files first, Reorder PDF Pages to change their sequence, or Long Screenshot to PDF for a tall screenshot.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make every PDF page the same size?

Choose the PDF, select a paper format and use All portrait or All landscape. Review the previews and download the resized print copy.

Will the tool crop my page content?

It fits the source’s existing visible crop area proportionally inside the new paper. It does not crop additional visible artwork to fill the sheet.

Does resizing turn PDF text into an image?

No. Existing page content is embedded as PDF artwork. Selectable page text and vectors can remain intact; scanned text remains an image.

Can I keep landscape tables?

Yes. Match each source page uses landscape sheets for wide source pages. All portrait instead fits the complete wide page onto a portrait sheet.

What happens to form fields, links and comments?

Supported saved form appearances become static page artwork. Editable fields, links, comments, bookmarks and attachments are not carried over. Unsupported forms or signature settings are rejected.

Are the blue margin lines added to the PDF?

No. They are preview guides only. Turn them off to see the clean preview.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. Inspection, previewing and PDF export happen in your browser. Only the processing engine may download from UploadWell.
