Correct perspective instead of trimming a tilted rectangle
Photographing a sheet at an angle makes it appear as a trapezoid: the farther edge looks smaller and the sides are no longer parallel. A normal rectangular crop cannot fix that shape. This scanner maps the four selected corners to a rectangular output, straightening the page’s perspective.
Start with corner 1 at the top left, then 2 at the top right, 3 at the bottom right and 4 at the bottom left. Keep the handles around the paper in that order. Crossed or collapsed selections cannot be exported. On a keyboard, focus a handle and use arrow keys; hold Shift for larger steps.
Corner selection is manual. The tool does not claim automatic document recognition. If the paper edges are difficult to see, leave a little margin rather than cutting through printed text.
Choose an enhancement that keeps the information readable
| Mode | Useful for |
|---|---|
| Clean paper | Brightening unevenly lit paper and reducing local shadows |
| Original colour | Forms where coloured marks, stamps or highlights matter |
| Greyscale | Removing colour while retaining tonal detail |
| Black and white text | High-contrast printed text on relatively plain paper |
Enhancement cannot restore information hidden by glare, severe blur or a folded sheet. Black-and-white processing can discard faint pencil marks, light stamps and shading. Always check the preview and keep a colour version when those details matter.
Brightness and contrast apply to the selected page. Apply enhancement to all pages copies the filter settings across the batch, while keeping each page’s own corners and rotation. This is useful when several pages were photographed under the same lighting.
Combine photographed paperwork into one PDF
Use the page controls to place receipts, supporting documents or form sheets in the intended sequence. Each PDF page contains one corrected scan. A4 and US Letter exports fit the scan into a page with a small margin and choose landscape orientation for a wide image. Fit to scanned image avoids the paper-size margin.
Export resolution controls the longest edge, up to 1,000, 1,600 or 2,400 pixels. A smaller output is easier to share; a larger one can retain more source detail. The scanner does not upscale small photographs to invent detail, and the working source is limited to a 3,000-pixel longest edge to control browser memory use.
The output is an image-based scan. It does not perform OCR, recognise handwriting or create searchable text. To complete a scanned form, open its PDF in Fill & Sign PDF. To meet an upload limit afterwards, use Compress PDF.
Take a better source photo
Place the paper on a contrasting surface, use even light and keep the whole sheet in focus. Avoid a flash reflection across glossy text. Hold the camera as parallel to the page as practical: perspective correction works best when the image already contains enough detail on the far edge.
Your originals remain unchanged. Processed JPGs and PDFs are new copies, and the new scan images do not copy the source photo’s camera or GPS metadata. Keep your originals if you need them for later editing or record keeping.
